About Audiophonic
Company Overview ...
Audiophonic Corporation was founded by William S. Cook. Bill has made audio and
sound engineering his life’s work. As you no doubt gathered from the liner notes,
he has owned radio stations. He was a pioneer in stereo broadcasting putting the
first successful experimental FM stereo station in the country on the air in
Baltimore in cooperation with the Federal Communications Commission.
As a youngster, Bill could always be found at a recording studio, a sound stage,
a network studio or a radio station. Bill worked as a recording engineer in
Hollywood and became acquainted with many of the most popular entertainers of
the late 40’s. As if this were not enough, Bill also worked for some prominent
companies a design engineer.
To pursue his passion today, restoring vintage recordings, Bill uses some very
sophisticated equipment. But the final judge of when it sounds good enough, is
his own well trained and very experienced ear! Bill has truly built the bridge
between vintage recordings and modern technology!
